Our team was tasked to lead the production for Esports World Cup’s Battle Royale stage for the second consecutive year, overseeing the end-to-end production of the biggest event in the esports world. Our role was to ensure a seamless, engaging, and dynamic experience for both global viewers and live audiences. The Battle Royale stage is expected to attract millions of online spectators, making it a cornerstone of the tournament’s success.
From the leadership perspective, our challenge was clear but complex. Picture this: around 100 professionals across broadcast + event production, operations, engineering and design — all looking to us for direction as we embarked on an 8-week journey together. Our team was required to:
• Inspire a diverse team to sustain peak performance across the entire tournament.
• Communicate a vision six months in the making, ensuring everyone understood their role in bringing it to life.
• Onboard new crew members swiftly and integrate them into a workflow that was already in motion.
• Protect the wellbeing of the team while managing a demanding workload.
• Justify a rigorous rehearsal schedule that some might have questioned.
• Connect with individuals from every corner of the globe, each bringing their own unique perspective.
